55-year-old woman killed in Bobcat machine accident at Juhu Beach
MUMBAI: A 55-year-old woman contract worker died at Juhu Beach on Friday morning after allegedly falling from a Bobcat machine’s bucket and being run over. The Santacruz police have filed a case against the machine’s driver for allegedly causing death by negligence. The woman and the driver were both contract workers involved in civic duties.
Police said the incident took place at about 10 am on Friday. The deceased, Angamma Devendra , lived in Juhu’s Nehru Nagar locality and worked as a contract worker with the Pratishthan organisation. She had gone to Juhu Beach with other workers for a cleaning drive.

Police said Devendra and around five to six other workers were seated in the bucket of the Bobcat while the driver was moving them to another point on the beach. While it was in motion, the machine reportedly went into a pit, after which Angamma Devendra lost her balance and fell. She then reportedly came under the machine’s left wheel and sustained fatal injuries.
The injured woman was taken to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle West, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The Santacruz police registered a case against the Bobcat driver, Kaushik Hajra (22), under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) along with other applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused also lives in Nehru Nagar, Juhu.
During questioning, Hajra told police that he had asked the woman not to sit in the machine’s bucket, but Devendra allegedly did not follow the instruction and remained seated there. No arrest has been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
