According to Seoni SP Sunil Kumar Mehta, the incident occurred during a routine check on Wednesday night in Siladehi forest. The Bandol police station in-charge and SDOP office staff intercepted a four-wheeler carrying cash from Katni to Jalna. Instead of following procedure, the officials allegedly assaulted the driver, chased him away, and attempted to seize the money for themselves.

The operation went unreported to senior authorities, but the case came to light when the affected businessman filed a complaint at Kotwali police station the following morning. The vehicle was said to contain over ₹2.96 crore, though the exact amount is still being verified.

Following the revelations, authorities suspended nine officers, including sub-inspector Arpit Bhairam, head constables Makhan and Ravindra Uike, and constables Jagdish Yadav, Yogendra Chaurasia, Ritesh, Neeraj Rajput, Kedar, and Sadafal.

Jabalpur Additional SP Ayush Gupta has been assigned to probe the case, with IG Pramod Verma demanding a detailed report within three days. Action is also underway against City SP Pooja Pandey of the Seoni SDOP office, with a proposal sent to Bhopal police headquarters.

The incident has sparked outrage as authorities move swiftly to investigate the alleged loot and restore public trust.
