Aldi apologises as Christmas food product urgently recalled over 'health risk' fears

Aldi has recalled a Christmas food product due to an "undeclared" allergen. The supermarket chain has asked customers who bought the batch of Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets affected by the recall to return the product to their nearest store, where they will be entitled to a full refund.

The food recall item contains egg which was not mentioned on the label. The recall by Aldi read: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets because the product is labelled incorrectly and contains an undeclared allergen (egg).

"Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given."

The Food Standards Agency said the labelling issue created a "possible health risk" for anyone with an egg allergy or intolerance.

The FSA also urges people with an allergy or intollerange to egg not to eat the product. Their note read: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it.

"Instead return it to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund. For further details, please visit help.aldi.co.uk or contact customer services on 0800 042 0800."

In its customer notice, Aldi also apologised for the issue. It read: "We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."

The product affected by the recall is from the Perfect Christmas brand and comes in the 278g packaging.

Its use by date is December 15, 2025, and the barcode is 4069365328743.
