Patna: The investigation into the June 2 firing incident near institute of educator Faisal Khan , popularly known as Khan Sir , has taken a fresh turn after Patna Police ’s verification of the weapons and licences of his two bodyguards. According to police sources, the updated case diary contains several new findings that could have a bearing on the ongoing legal proceedings.

Investigators claim that the firearm allegedly used during the firing was registered in the name of Talebar Singh (34), a resident of Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh. However, police allege that the licence issued for the weapon did not carry an all India validity, meaning Singh was not legally authorised to carry the firearm into Bihar without the required permission.

Confirming this, a senior police official said Singh’s arms licence was valid only in UP and did not have the permission for its use in Bihar. He added that although the second bodyguard, Pradeep Kumar , possessed an all India arms licence, the required permission to use the weapon for armed security duty was not available. “The weapon was for his personal protection after the murder of his father in 2011,” the officer said.

The officer also confirmed that notices had been issued to several people associated with Khan’s coaching institute, including Ankit Pandey, Ajit Kumar, and Kanhaiya Singh, for further questioning. However, they did not appear before investigators and instead approached the court for bail. He said the next hearing in the case is scheduled for June 30, when the matters related to all the accused are expected to be taken up.
