Beloved actor dies at home aged 33 as tributes flood in

Beloved actor Jin Ze died at home on Thursday at the age of 33. His agency Shengshi Guangnian Culture Co. confirmed the news in an official statement released on June 6, although they did not disclose a cause of death. "We announce with profound sorrow that our contracted actor Jin Ze (Zhang Jiawei) passed away at his home in Hangzhou on June 4, 2026," the statement read. "He was an outstanding young actor and model... We express our deepest grief and extend our sincere condolences to his family." They also urged people to avoid circulating unverified information as a mark of respect for his family.

"At present, his grieving family is entirely focused on handling his final arrangements. To protect their privacy and respect the weight of this loss, the studio has made a solemn appeal to the public and the media: Please approach this tragic news with kindness. We ask everyone to respect the deceased, sympathize with his mourning family, and firmly refuse to fabricate, believe, or spread unverified rumors. Please refrain from making up or speculating on the cause of his passing. Instead, let us preserve his dignity and come together to remember his life and work.The suddenness of this loss reminds us all of how fragile and unpredictable life can be. The agency fully respects and will completely cooperate with all subsequent arrangements made by his family," they wrote.

On May 6, just a month before his death Chinese star Jin had shared his final social media post with fans telling his five million followers filming had wrapped on one of his latest projects.

He currently has several upcoming projects which are yet to be released including Waiting for the Flowers to Bloom, Waiting for Your Return, which already has huge buzz online.

He had graduated from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and begun his career as a model before transitioning into acting.

He quickly found fame in television dramas and romantic series including Hello Joann, Forget You Remember Love, Begin Again, Legally Romance, Beauty Reborn and Don't Negotiate with Your Boss.

Tributes flooded in for the star as the sad news became public. Taking to Facebook one fan wrote: "I'm so shocked how these beautiful lives are taken so easily but rest in peace taken so soon my condolences to the family." Another added: "How can I watch his drama again without being sad. RIP."

A third chimed in: "How tragic - a lovely actor. I just him watched 2 days ago - even looked up his bio. I was so impressed - so sad.

A fourth penned: "Sorry to hear this sad news condolences to his family and friends heart breaking so young rest in peace." A fifth shared: "So young so sad about this news ...Rest in heavenly peace."

Meanwhile a sixth opined: "I feel so sad for all his beloved family and friends. Still so young, still so much mileage to go with his passion and talent! He must have completed his life mission. Rest now Jin Ze ..we will miss you very much...."
