Central Railway to add 12 more AC local services on Main line from June 29
MUMBAI: Central Railway (CR) will convert 12 existing non-AC suburban services on its Main line into air-conditioned (AC) locals from Monday, June 29, taking the total number of AC services on its network to 120 in response to growing passenger demand .
The additional services will replace existing non-AC trains without increasing the overall number of suburban services. After the upgrade, CR will operate 92 AC services on the Main line and 28 on the Harbour line, compared with the current 80 and 28, respectively. The total number of weekday suburban services across all lines will remain unchanged at 1,820.

Among the newly upgraded services are two morning peak-hour trains—Titwala-CSMT (6.46 am departure) and Ghatkopar-CSMT (9.16 am departure)—and one evening peak-hour CSMT-Kalyan service departing at 7.18 pm. Other upgraded services include trains between Kurla and CSMT, Thane and CSMT, and Kalyan and Kurla.
The AC rakes will operate only from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and nominated holidays, the same services will continue to run with non-AC rakes.
