Centre examining Bastar Regiment proposal, Rajnath tells Chhattisgarh govt
RAIPUR: The Centre has informed Chhattisgarh govt that its proposal seeking the creation of a dedicated 'Bastar regiment' in the Indian Army has been received and is under examination.
In a letter dated earlier this month, defence minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged deputy chief minister and home minister Vijay Sharma's June 26 communication and said the proposal was being processed in accordance with the prescribed procedure. While the ministry has not indicated any timeline or commitment on the demand, the response marks the Centre's first formal acknowledgment of the proposal.
