City Cops Launch Citizen Feedback System To Check Delays, Dilution And Cover-Ups In FIRs
Nagpur: In probably the first such move, CP Vishwas Nangre Patil has directed the police control room to contact every complainant after an FIR is filed in the city. The callers from the control room will record complainants' experiences at police stations for every FIR being registered. The move is aimed at ensuring prompt and accurate filings of FIRs.
According to the order, complainants will be asked whether police delayed the registration of the FIR, if the nature of the crime was altered to reduce its severity or any attempt was made to cover up the offence, and whether they were provided a copy of the FIR free of charge.
