CJP protest: Woman injured during 'Sansad Chalo' march taken off ventilator; conscious and responding, say RML doctors
NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old woman who was critically injured during the police action at the Cockroach Janta Party ’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on July 20 has been taken off ventilator support and is showing signs of recovery, doctors at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital said on Wednesday.
The woman, identified as Sakshi, a resident of Chhattarpur Extension, is now conscious, breathing on her own and responding appropriately to commands, hospital authorities said.
Sakshi had sustained injuries to her face, chest and neck during the protest and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
She had attended the demonstration on Monday along with her cousin, who also suffered a leg injury.
According to hospital authorities, MRI scans of Sakshi’s brain and spine have returned normal results.
Doctors said her condition has been steadily improving since treatment began and that she continues to receive comprehensive medical care under the close supervision of the medical team.
