Dame Joan Collins has revealed how her husband Percy Gibson stormed to her defence after a man "bumped into her with his trolley in M&S". What may surprise many die-hard Dynasty fans, the 93-year-old actress will often venture to her local supermarket "disguised in an anorak and baseball cap" to do her weekly food shop despite her international fame. But on a recent trip to her supermarket, the actress was left "fuming" and doubled over in pain after an unfortunate trolly accident.

Recalling the painful mishap with Daily Mail Weekend Magazine, the TV icon revealed that she had to talk her husband down after he angrily confronted the man involved. She shared Percy's response and her attempt to defuse the situation, chuckling: "Fire came out of his eyes! And I said, 'No, no, no, no, don't darling! It's fine, I'm not hurt!'

"I was, actually! Only slightly. You don't like to be bumped with a trolley!" The mum-of-three shared this example as she argued that British people have become less polite in recent years, while crediting the younger members of her family as an exception to the rule.

The Hollywood icon continued:" My grandchildren and my nephews and nieces are all very polite and well-mannered, but I've seen some young people who are not. I've seen some old people who are not too, like the man who bumped into me: he was in his late 60s.

"I think there's a culture: Great Britain used to be known for everybody being incredibly polite and well-mannered. I don't think we're as polite now. We're not known for our politeness as much as people in Spain and Italy, for example."

Thankfully, the interviewer noted that Dame Joan looked "none the worse for her encounter with the shopping cart". The actress, who turned 93 earlier this year, looks nothing short of sensational, but insisted she is against fad diets and cosmetic tweakments.

She credits her youthful looks to "healthy living", previously telling The Telegraph: £I don't eat junk, I get eight hours of sleep, I exercise. It's very simple." It comes after the doting mum penned an emotional message to her husband Percy as he celebrated his 61st birthday.

The Dynasty star has been married to Gibson, who is 31 years her junior, since 2002. Taking to Instagram, she shared a touching carousel of snaps spanning their 25-year relationship. She captioned the touching post: "After 25 years of being together, I never get tired of being with my handsome, wonderful, funny A-Husband Percy Gibson. Wishing him a marvellous birthday with endless love."

The couple met back in 2000 while working on the play Love Letters, which Gibson produced. The actress recalled their first meeting in her 2018 essay for the Daily Mail, revealing she never intended to marry again. She wrote: "When Percy and I met 18 years ago, I was in a long-term relationship that was dragging along.

"I had declared that I never wanted to marry again, and I kept to that promise until I met Percy. We hit it off immediately. He was funny, engaging, good-looking, and after the show I would socialise with him, my co-star George Hamilton and my daughter Katy."
