NEW DELHI: A month-long water shortage in south Delhi’s Tigri took a tragic turn after a 39-year-old carpenter died of an electric shock while trying to connect the wiring of a water pump near his home, triggering protests by angry residents who alleged that repeated complaints to the local water authority had fallen on deaf ears.

Residents took to the streets following the death of the man, identified as Arman, and raised concerns over the water shortage in the area and the authorities’ alleged failure to address their complaints.
