NEW DELHI: Women police personnel will be deployed inside all Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) 'ladies special' buses operating on government-identified routes, transport officials said on Wednesday.

Initially, these ladies’ special buses will operate on identified routes, primarily covering far-flung areas of Outer Delhi. The buses will be run entirely by women staff, officials informed.

“The Delhi Police has been requested to deploy women police personnel on the ladies’ special buses plying on these routes, especially during morning and evening hours. Taking a highly serious view of women’s security, the LG issued strict directions to the authorities, categorically stating that women’s safety should not be compromised at any cost,” a transport department official said.
