Delhi Bus Assault Case Sparks Fresh Concerns Over Women’s Safety in Public Transport

The capital has once again been shaken by reports of a horrific incident involving the alleged gang rape of a woman inside a private sleeper bus in Delhi’s Nangloi area. According to Delhi Police , the incident reportedly took place on the night of May 11, when the survivor was returning home from work. The woman worked at a factory in Mangolpuri and lived in Pitampura. As a part of her usual after work routine, she was waiting at a bus stop in Saraswati Vihar when she boarded the bus, where it all began.

The Accusers of the Crime

Police officials stated that the accused were the driver and conductor of the bus. According to reports, the survivor was walking towards her home just when a sleeper bus stopped at a nearby bus stop, and one of the accused was standing near the door. She asked for the time, after which they allegedly pulled her inside the bus and assaulted her. Both men were later arrested after the survivor approached authorities and filed a complaint. The bus involved in the case has also been seized as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have registered an FIR and stated that further legal proceedings are underway
