Kolkata: “Enough is enough, it’s time to teach such people a lesson,” roared CM Suvendu Adhikari in the assembly on Monday referring to AJUP chief Humayun Kabir , adding that he would not allow the Nowda MLA to make “reckless and unrestrained political statements.”

According to the CM, Kabir had threatened to mobilise large crowds and challenge law enforcement in a speech at a public meeting in Murshidabad ’s Shaktipur on June 8 and again at Rejinagar on June 26.

Reading out quotes from Kabir’s speech, Adhikari said Kabir had spoken about surrounding the Lalgola police station with 10,000 people to force the govt to transfer an officer.

“I will not only make him withdraw his statements but also ensure he thinks twice before making such remarks. I assure the house that this will be the last time he makes such comments in public,” the CM said.

The CM’s comments came after two BJP MLAs raised a point of order to speaker Rathindra Bose.

He further said Kabir made the comments to polarise voters ahead of the by-polls in Rejinagar which his son is likely to contest after Kabir vacated the seat.

Kabir left the assembly while the CM was speaking and later told reporters that his comments were not against the govt but those who had become BJP netas overnight after the assembly poll results.
