FIR mandatory in non-consensual intimate video cases: Priyank Kharge

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has directed police officers to mandatorily register FIRs in cases related to revenge pornography, sextortion and blackmail videos.

The Home Minister instructed police to take strict legal action in cases involving the publication, sharing or circulation of private photos or videos without the consent of the person concerned. He said such offences are cognisable crimes and FIRs must be registered without delay in cases commonly referred to as "revenge pornography", "sextortion" and "blackmail videos".
