Gary Lineker fronts 'terrifying' new ITV show as fans get huge update
There's exciting news for gameshow enthusiasts as a brand-new celebrity series is poised to arrive on ITV screens imminently.
Presented by Gary Lineker, The Box will feature 10 famous faces deposited at an undisclosed location where they must tackle a challenge.
However, they won't discover what awaits them until the doors swing open - it could be physical, mental, logical, amusing, somewhat intimidating, or indeed a combination of all those elements.
A synopsis for the programme states: "With minimal or no instruction, they must decipher and work out what to do. At the end of each episode, two players will battle it out in The Duel, a high-stakes head-to-head game to avoid elimination.
"The Box promises shocking reveals, mind-bending puzzles, and plenty of twists across the series. "
This week, ITV audiences were treated to a sneak preview of what to expect from The Box via a new teaser trailer. It featured a montage of the participating celebrities, including The One Show's JB Gill and The Chase's Jenny Ryan, all appearing visibly anxious, reports the Mirror.
Dragons' Den star Sara Davies remarked: "This is a bit terrifying, isn't it?" Gary Lineker then materialised on screen, declaring to the camera: "They're scared."
Viewers were then shown various settings where the distinctive yellow boxes had been positioned, before the doors burst open and everyone dashed outside. Gary appeared once more, informing the contestants: "You can forget World Cup penalty shootouts, this is way tenser."
The clip concluded with Joey Essex's mouth agape in astonishment as he exclaimed: "Oh, my god. Where am I?", before the camera pulled back to reveal Brighton i360, implying he had been positioned at the top of it.
The post was accompanied by the caption: "They won't know what awaits them until the doors open... and by then, it's too late to turn back. Gary Lineker hosts The Box, coming soon to ITV."
Viewers were quick to respond to the teaser, with many expressing their enthusiasm. One person declared: "Can't wait for this!!!" Another wrote: "Ahh, I've been waiting for this! !" Someone else posted: "About time."
One viewer remarked: "Can't wait to see The Box." Meanwhile, another person enthused: "Can't wait ITV!"
Discussing his role as presenter, Gary Lineker said: "From my experience, the most successful teams are built on a mix of strengths and abilities, and that's exactly what we've got with this lineup.
"I'm excited to be on the sideline with a front row seat to see all the action unfold!"
