Bengaluru: A 34-year-old security guard was found dead with bullet injuries in his room in Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Hospital at Kadugondanahalli, east Bengaluru, Sunday night.

Lakhan Vishwakarma , from Bihar, worked as a guard for both the hospital and college for the last two months. He lived with his wife in a small room provided by the management, police said.

A licensed double-barrelled gun, used by Vishwakarma, was lying close to his body. He was appointed through an agency that provided him with the gun.

"Vishwakarma was alone as his wife had gone to visit her parents to celebrate Dasara festival. Sunday was Vishwakarma's day off, and on Monday when his co-workers wondered why Vishwakarma hadn't turned up for duty, they went to his room and found the door ajar. They found him on the floor with bullet injuries on his head and blood sprayed around. He was dead by then," an investigating officer said.

"Forensic science laboratory officials feel the death could have happened after 11pm and before midnight when it was raining heavily. This is why the sound of the firing wasn't heard by others," an official said.
