Illegal slaughterhouse busted, 9 cows rescued
Ferozepur : Police, with the help of a cow vigilante group , on Monday busted an illegal slaughterhouse being run under the guise of a knacker's yard in the Basti Nizamdin area of Ferozepur. The cops recovered a large quantity of beef, along with deep-fat fryers, and rescued nine cows and some calves.
Police have sent the suspected beef sample for forensic testing. Cow protection activist Harbhajan Singh and former Ferozepur municipal councillor Beant Singh alleged that when they tried to visit the suspected illegal slaughterhouse after receiving information about it, armed men present at the site stopped them from entering.
