A 31-year-old man, Naveen Singh, has been arrested by Jaipur police for allegedly murdering his mother, Santosh (51), after a heated argument over a disconnected WiFi connection turned violent.
Heated Argument Turns Fatal
Investigators reported that the quarrel escalated rapidly. Naveen allegedly strangled his mother before striking her multiple times with a wooden stick. Santosh was rushed to hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Family Wedding Turns to Mourning
The incident has devastated the family, who were preparing to celebrate their daughter’s wedding in February 2026. What was meant to be a joyous occasion has instead turned into unbearable grief.
Father’s Harsh Words
The victim’s husband and Naveen’s father, Laxman Singh, a Delhi Police constable, expressed his anguish in strong terms:
“He was the only son who ruined his family by killing his mother. Hang him; we have no connection with him anymore,” he told Navbharat.
Drug Addiction and Strained Relations
According to Laxman, Naveen had been battling drug addiction for several years, often isolating himself in his room. Family ties had grown so strained that father and son had not spoken for months.
Naveen, a Bachelor of Arts graduate, had previously worked with Genpact but was unemployed at the time of the crime. Police believe his joblessness worsened his drug abuse and aggression, resulting in repeated domestic clashes.
Investigation Underway
A police and forensic science laboratory (FSL) team inspected the family home, collected evidence, and seized the wooden stick believed to be the murder weapon. Naveen remains in police custody and is under interrogation.
Authorities have described the case as one of the most disturbing incidents in recent years, underlining the dangerous combination of addiction, unemployment, and domestic conflict.
