Malnutrition & child marriage in Melghat to be tackled: Tatkare
Amravati : Women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare on Saturday said the govt was taking steps to tackle malnutrition in Chikhaldara and Dharani talukas of Melghat .
Reviewing the situation at Dharani tehsil office, Tatkare said malnutrition had declined in recent years but more work was needed to improve maternal and child care.
She said child marriage remained a concern in Melghat and often resulted in births of undernourished children. Trained women health workers would guide tribal mothers on nutrition in their local languages. A nutrition plan for the first 1 ,000 days after birth would also be implemented.
