Man arrested, minor detained for gang rape in Purnia
Patna : A man was arrested and a minor was detained in Purnia district on Friday in connection with the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The incident occurred on Thursday noon, when the girl went to the fields to fetch fodder for the cattle. Three persons, allegedly intoxicated, intercepted her at a deserted spot and committed the heinous crime. Another accused is absconding, police said.
The victim’s grandmother said she was cutting grass in a jute field around 1pm on Thursday with her granddaughter and she sent the girl to collect a bundle of grass nearby.
“Three persons from a nearby village—Gopal Murmu, Ramkumar Murmu and their minor associate—stopped her. They were drunk and took her to nearby bushes and committed the crime,” she told police.
