Man kills friend after quarrel over woman, arrested within 24 hours in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : A late-night drug session between two friends ended in a murder when one allegedly slit the other's throat on Tuesday near the SFS School ground , police said. The crime branch arrested the accused within 24 hours of the incident.

Crime branch inspector Sambhaji Pawar said the deceased man and the accused, Sachin, alias Jangli Jadhav (24), went to the open ground near the school on Tuesday night to consume intoxicants. Suddenly, an argument erupted between them over a woman and other personal issues.

The verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical altercation, during which Jadhav allegedly slashed his friend's throat with a knife. Then, Jadhav fled the scene.

Jawahar Nagar police and crime branch officials reached shortly after receiving information, conducted a panchnama, and transferred the deceased to Govt Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. A murder offence was registered, and multiple teams were deployed to trace Jadhav.

Crime branch sub-inspector Pravin Wagh said on Wednesday morning, they received a tip-off that Jadhav was hiding near Kalibawdi. A police team went to the location. Upon spotting the police, Jadhav attempted to flee but was caught. A court remanded him in police custody until Oct 21.

DCP Ratnakar Navale said, "The incident has created panic in the locality. However, we managed to arrest the accused within 24 hours."
