Marcus Rashford has received another setback as the Manchester United star continues to face an uncertain future, with a key ally poised to depart. Rashford spent the season on loan at Barcelona, having previously made clear his desire to leave Old Trafford last summer.

The England international went on to net 14 goals and register 14 assists for Barca during his loan spell, yet it remains unclear where he will be plying his trade next season. Barcelona hold an option to sign Rashford on a permanent basis for £26million this summer, but the La Liga giants are yet to show any indication that they will activate the clause in the near future.

Consequently, Rashford's future remains shrouded in uncertainty, and a fresh development regarding the United loanee has now emerged ahead of the summer transfer window. Spanish publication Sport have reported that Barcelona are planning to allow Roony Bardghji to depart the club this summer.

Barca brought Bardghji in last summer from FC Copenhagen on a permanent deal, agreeing a four-year contract that runs until the summer of 2029. However, owing to a limited amount of first-team action for Bardghji this season, Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a summer move for the 20-year-old, potentially via a loan deal that could include an option to make the move permanent.

Reports suggest that both Bardghji and Barcelona manager Hansi Flick are aligned in their belief that a move away this summer represents the best course of action. Rashford has struck up a close friendship with Bardghji during his spell at Barcelona, and the Sweden international's potential exit could deal a significant blow to the United loanee.

There is already considerable uncertainty surrounding Rashford's future this summer, particularly following Barcelona's decision to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.

The Spanish giants confirmed the deal last week, with the England international heading to the Camp Nou in a transfer reported to be worth €80million (£69.2m). Rashford and Gordon largely operate in the same position, casting doubt over whether Barcelona will pursue a move for the United forward having already secured his international teammate.

Reports have also emerged suggesting that Barcelona could target Bernardo Silva on a free transfer this summer following his exit from Manchester City. Crucially for Rashford, it has been indicated that any pursuit of Silva could ultimately leave a potential deal for the United winger off the table.
