NMC Finally Puts Rs 6,200cr Budget Into Effect, Leaving Eight Months for Execution
Nagpur: Nearly a month after Nagpur Municipal Corporation 's (NMC) general body approved its Rs6,200-crore budget for 2026-27, the civic administration has set development works in motion, leaving departments with barely eight months to utilise the allocations before the financial year ends.
A circular issued by the accounts and finance department on July 27 directs all departments to execute works strictly within sanctioned allocations and ensure expenditure does not exceed approved limits or create additional financial liabilities. Departments have also been asked to clear committed liabilities and prioritise ongoing projects before taking up new works.
The budget, presented by standing committee chairperson Shivani Dani Wakhare, was approved with modifications on June 27.
The finance department warned that any expenditure beyond sanctioned allocations or deviation from the approved directions would be the responsibility of the concerned department.
