Palani municipality chairperson seeks CBI probe into Palani mutt land case
Madurai: Chairperson of Palani municipality has moved Madras high court seeking CBI probe into the case pertaining to fraudulent registration of the 1.4-acre land valued at Rs100 crore, belonging to the Arulmigu Dhandapani Swamigal mutt in Palani , Dindigul district .
In the petition, the petitioner R Uma Maheshwari Pradeep stated that the news of the fraudulent registration triggered widespread outrage among devotees, religious organisations and the general public. The division bench of the HC which declared the sale deed null and void recorded that fraud was evident at every stage of the transaction, commencing from the preparation and the presentation of the instrument and culminating in its registration.
