Pedestrian killed after car hits footpath on NH-66 at Uppunda Edit

Uppunda: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car on National Highway 66 near Bijoor in Uppunda on July 27.

The deceased has been identified as Macha Devadiga.

According to police, the car was travelling from Byndoor towards Kundapura when it first crashed into the footpath near Devappa Baligar's house in Uppunda. The vehicle then struck Macha Devadiga, who was standing on the roadside after attempting to cross the highway.

The impact threw him onto the road, leaving him seriously injured. He died while being taken to a hospital, sources said.

A case has been registered at the Byndoor Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
