Probe into pvt hospital over negligence, high bill after teen's death
Ranchi: Following a directive from chief minister Hemant Soren on Saturday, a four-member inquiry committee conducted a comprehensive inspection at a private hospital in the city, following allegations of medical negligence and exorbitant bills.
The probe was initiated after the family of 18-year-old Raju Kumar Ranjan from Latehar district , who died on July 1, alleged that a case of fractured leg was mismanaged, resulting in infection and fatality, while the hospital raised a medical bill of nearly Rs 22 lakh.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the CM ordered deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on X to take immediate action. “Take immediate cognisance and conduct a full investigation of the matter. Upon finding the guilty, ensure strict action against all culprits and inform accordingly,” he wrote.
Bhajantri immediately instructed the civil surgeon to constitute a district-level investigation team to probe the allegations and submit a detailed report. Subsequently, a team comprising two doctors and two administrative officers visited the hospital.
