Real reason Prince William and Princess Kate more likeable than Prince Harry
Prince William and Princess Catherine are being praised for their public appearances and engagements with the media in comparison to those of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It comes as Harry and Meghan made headlines across the globe with what is being called their "quasi-royal" tour of Australia. The famous couple made their way Down Under for a series of public engagements, giving speeches at a number of events during their travels.
Public opinion continues to swing in the pair's favour, and they have been criticised for making their lives so public after campaigning for privacy. Two PR experts recently analysed the public strategies of both William and Catherine and Harry and Meghan, explaining why the former's is working better than the latter's.
Analysing the media presence of William and Catherine, co-host of the popular podcast Where Pop Culture Meets PR, Jackie Vause, explained why William and Catherine are looking good from a public relations perspective.
Speaking to fellow host Lyle Fulton, she revealed that William and Catherine's office has employed a "very clever" strategy. "What they're doing is levelling up from the very obvious 'pick me' stories that are coming out of Montecito," she said.
"This is the interesting thing to me. I think that the office has been aware and seeing these quasi-royal tours that are coming from the Markles, and then sort of thinking, okay, how are we going to counter that?
"You don't want to do something that's too obvious. You do want to do something that is in line with all of your values, your vision and your mission. I can see it very clearly. I can see the messaging they're doing. I can see the opposite of ubiquitous.
She continued: "There is a beautiful cadence to this cadence of stories that are being seeded out with beautiful visuals. This is what real royalty is all about: the overall message. It's so, so clever."
Harry and Meghan's recent public appearances have come under fire following their trip to Australia, with some social media users calling them "bad actors.
One Reddit user shared: "Their acting is just that bad, and people are sick of their over-the-top performative expressions and empty words. And the most ironic part is that acting is Meghan's craft. She just can't act, and neither can Harry."
Another said: "Actually, their biggest problem is that they aren't genuine. As they aren't genuine, they could pretend to be - which leads us to the OP. In addition to the bad acting, they can't keep up the façade - so they're not method actors, like some of the better actors."
