Rebekah Vardy says 'I'm never doing this again' after emotional move from family home
Rebekah Vardy broke down in tears during the most recent instalment of her ITV documentary. A new reality programme, entitled The Vardys, provides exclusive access into the lives of Rebekah and her footballer husband, Jamie, as they confront their most significant challenge to date - departing Leicester City after 13 years for a fresh start overseas.
"After a difficult and dramatic five years in the UK, Rebekah is ready for the next chapter - but uprooting and moving to Italy with four kids (plus a superstar footballer husband) is not exactly what she had in mind," reads the official synopsis. "As she manages the emotional and physical upheaval of the new move, she reflects on her recent challenges in the UK, intent on putting the 'Wagatha' drama behind her and focusing on an exciting new chapter."
The second instalment of the programme, which is currently available on ITVX, saw Rebekah bid an emotional goodbye to the UK as she embarked on the big move to Italy with her children, reports the Mirror.
However, not all of Rebekah's children were relocating, as her eldest daughter, Megan, 20, was remaining in the UK to pursue her university education.
While the family prepared their belongings, Rebekah's father, Carlos, arrived to offer his farewells. "Sleepless night knowing that this morning is coming... It's gonna be difficult. Yeah, I'm gonna miss them all. Miss them badly, yeah," he said.
Rebekah then said, "How am I going to deal with my dad's emotions? Megs is there. How am I going to deal with saying goodbye to my eldest, who's not coming? And how the f*** is this all going to come together?" Rebekah was then seen crying into her father's shoulder as she embraced him goodbye. Megan then said, "I actually feel sick to my stomach."
As the family boarded the plane to Italy, Rebekah told Jamie via FaceTime: "I am never doing this again. And if we're doing it again, you're doing it, not me."
Upon reaching their new residence on the shores of Lake Garda, Rebekah continued to express her frustration, telling her husband: "We're not friends at the minute. You put me through hell."
Later, she added: "My past few days have been very stressful. I was annoyed at you for putting me through all this stress. So, I hope you are grateful," to which Jamie replied: "You know I am."
The star went on to reveal that much of her anxiety originates from relocating frequently as a child following her parents' separation.
"We ended up moving around quite a bit. I ended up going to quite a few different schools, so I never really got attached to any one place, and it really, really made me incredibly insecure. And as a result of that, I always found it really hard to find a sense of belonging," Rebekah said. "Jamie being at Leicester for so long provided that sense of security, and I think that may be why I get so stressed."
The Vardys continues on ITV1 tonight (Wednesday, June 3) at 9pm, and is available to stream on ITVX
