Solar fuels record renewable capacity addition in Q1

Newspoint
Chennai: India’s renewable energy sector has begun FY27 on a strong footing, sustaining its record-breaking pace of capacity additions during the first quarter (Apr–June), driven largely by robust solar installations. Building on the momentum of recent months, the sector added more than 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity—excluding large hydro—during the quarter, with solar alone contributing nearly 12 GW. The Q1 addition also surpassed the 12.3 GW added in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
