ST Act notified, tribals likely to get four seat quota in House
Panaji : Union govt on Thursday notified ST Assembly Representation Act ensuring that there is ST reservation at the next assembly elections in Goa.
The notification will set the ball rolling to reserve around four seats for the ST community in the 2027 state assembly elections.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that he welcomes the ST Assembly Representation Act coming into force.
“Now, Goa moves decisively towards reserving assembly seats for our ST communities: long-overdue justice for our tribal brothers and sisters. Deep gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah ,” Sawant said.
