Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren said that talks are still ongoing for seat sharing in the upcoming Bihar polls.

Speaking briefly to reporters after JMM’s central committee meeting, which aimed to name its candidate for the Ghatshila bypoll and deliberate on the Bihar polls, he said, “Talks are still on. JMM will fight polls in Bihar, certain nitty-gritties are underway. I am sure soon it will be known to all.”

Notably, a few days ago, JMM urged RJD to declare the seat-sharing deal by Oct 14, or else they would decide on their future course following their meeting on Wednesday.

However, sources said that during the meeting, everyone was of the view that the party must certainly fight polls in Bihar.

“We are still inclined to fight as part of the INDIA bloc. But we also expect some respectable seats for JMM,” said a source, adding that in Jharkhand, JMM accommodated RJD on about half a dozen seats and has also included its MLA in the cabinet. It is believed that JMM will likely have to settle for two or three seats.
