Two held for illegal gravel mining in Madurai; excavator, tipper truck seized

Madurai : Two men were arrested for allegedly illegally excavating and transporting gravel from Periya Kanmai at S Puliyankulam in Madurai district by misusing government permission meant for desilting, police said on Saturday.

The action followed an inspection by Madurai district superintendent of police N Devanathan after police received information about illegal mining in the area.
