UP plans new tourism circuits, heritage projects and cultural initiatives

Uttar Pradesh is planning a series of tourism and cultural heritage initiatives, including the development of the Neem Karoli Baba Circuit and the Bundelkhand Fort Circuit, as part of efforts to expand tourism opportunities and promote cultural destinations across the state. The proposals were reviewed during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The review also covered proposed changes to the state's tourism policy, with a focus on attracting investment and encouraging experience-based tourism. New concepts under consideration include Heritage Experience Centres, agri-tourism, and vineyard tourism, alongside measures aimed at supporting local economies, traditional crafts, and employment generation.

Officials presented progress on the Gyan Bharatam Mission, which focuses on surveying, preserving, and digitising ancient manuscripts. Discussions were also held on major cultural and heritage projects, including the INS Gomti Shaurya Museum in Lucknow and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Agra, both of which are expected to use modern technology to showcase historical narratives and cultural heritage.

The meeting further reviewed development plans for Naimisharanya, the Vindhyachal region, and heritage conservation projects in Chitrakoot. Authorities discussed improving visitor facilities while preserving the historical, cultural, and spiritual significance of these sites, with an emphasis on long-term tourism development and heritage conservation.
