UP Woman Slits Throat Of 4-Year-Old Son, Attempts To Burn Body On Stove, Arrested
A woman described as " mentally unstable " from Bijnor , Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested for fatally injuring her four-year-old son. According to police reports on Wednesday, Aadesh Devi allegedly slit the baby's throat and attempted to burn his body on a stove inside their home.
The tragic incident was discovered when Devi's husband, Kapil Kumar, returned from work and found their son deceased. Kumar, in a state of shock and devastation, promptly contacted family members for assistance.
Upon the arrival of family members, Devi wielded a shovel, forcing them and Kumar to flee the premises.
Kumar promptly notified the police about the horrific event. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ram Arj and Circle Officer Chandpur Bharat Sonkar responded to the scene. They arranged for the child's body to undergo post-mortem examination and initiated a murder case against Devi following Kumar's complaint.
Despite the police's attempts to question her, Devi remained silent. In the meantime, her brother informed authorities that she is "mentally unstable."
Further investigation is ongoing.
In a comparable incident in Nagpur, Maharashtra, a woman reportedly killed her three-year-old daughter following a dispute with her husband. She then walked approximately 4 km through the streets with the body before alerting the authorities, officials stated.
