US Resident Scammed into Buying Rs 300 Jewellery for Rs 6 Crore in Jaipur
In a distressing turn of events, a US resident fell victim to a significant jewellery scam in Jaipur , where she was tricked into purchasing counterfeit jewellery worth Rs 6 crore . The scam unfolded in Johri Bazaar, a prominent market in Jaipur, under the jurisdiction of the Manak Chowk police station .
The victim, Cherish , was misled into buying the jewellery from a local shop owned by Rajendra Soni and his son, Gaurav. In April, Cherish presented the purchased jewellery at an exhibition in the US, only to discover that the pieces were fake. Determined to confront the fraudsters, she returned to Jaipur, where her grievances were dismissed, and she was met with hostility.
Facing refusal from the shop owners to acknowledge the fraud, Cherish took legal action and filed a complaint at the Manak Chowk police station on May 18. In a retaliatory move, the accused filed a false case against her.
