Woman shot dead at home by masked gunmen in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: A 25-year-old woman was shot dead inside her house by two masked assailants who arrived on a motorcycle on Friday afternoon in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district.

The incident took place at Jongra village when the victim Purnima Chauhan was doing chores inside her house and suddenly the assailants barged inside pointing pistol targetting at her and fired, police said.

Purnima had been living with her parents for the past two years after the breakdown of her marriage. She had earlier worked with a private company.

According to police, the two men, their faces covered with white cloth and riding a motorcycle without a registration number, reached the house and asked family members, "Where is Purnima?" As soon as she came out, one of them opened fire, hitting her in the head and other parts of the body. After firing three rounds, the duo fled from the spot.
