Women property registrations jump 45% in Chhattisgarh after fee slash

Newspoint
Raipur : In Chhattisgarh , a policy meant to make women more visible in the state’s property records is beginning to show up in the numbers.

A cut in registration fees for properties bought in women’s names has pushed their share of registered deeds from 32% to 41% in just under two months, according to state data. The jump is not just statistical. It suggests a shift in a place where land and property have long been tied to family power, economic security and, often, male ownership.
