IPL 2026 Playoffs Scenario: What RR vs LSG Result Means for Qualification Race
Rajasthan Royals will clash with the Lucknow Super Giants in a do-or-die IPL 2026 match at Jaipur on Tuesday, as their playoff hopes are still on. There is just one spot left for the playoff, the Royals need to win both their remaining matches.
The Royals are currently standing in the fifth position in the points table with 12 points in 12 matches, the win against LSG would take them 14 points and would place them in the top four, above PBKS, CSK, KKR. If Rajasthan Royals win against LSG then their chances for playoff qualification will increase drastically. With the two remaining matches against Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, if RR wins both their matches they will end their league stage on 16 points. That points total is usually enough for direct qualification to the IPL 2026 playoffs.
The victory against LSG will put them above the chase pack looking for the last spot in playoffs. The Royals will heavily rely on their ace batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel to perform with the willow and the bowling needs to get its rhythm back to win both games. The Super Giants are out of the tournament and they could be in a position to spoil the chances of the Royals.
If RR were to be beaten by LSG then they could only end with 14 points at most in this season's competition. This would then leave the path open for a few other teams who are still in the hunt for qualification.
Punjab Kings and KKR both have the opportunity to end up on 15 points if the cards fall in the right way for them. Super Kings and Delhi Capitals both have the capability to end on 14 points.
Net Run Rate might well decide who wins this if RR were to falter and complicate things greatly for themselves. This match could be one of the biggest ties of the season as the pressure starts to build.
