Watch: Jason Holder Gives Fiery Sendoff To Devdutt Padikkal In Qualifier 1

Newspoint

Gujarat Titans all-rounder Jason Holder brought this massive energy to the ground after he dismissed Devdutt Padikkal during the IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 showdown against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Dharamsala. And honestly it felt like he just sort of lit the whole moment up, right after that wicket.

Holder managed to remove both Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in the same spell, then he helped Gujarat Titans come back when it mattered, in a playoff kind of game. After Padikkal was gone, the West Indies man celebrated loudly, like fully charged, and his team mates quickly joined in too.

Before Holder got going, RCB were scoring fast and it looked like they were in the driver seat. But then Holder changed the momentum, with two key wickets that basically swung the whole phase.

The wicket actually came in the ninth over. Holder bowled a back-of-a-length ball , outside off stump. Devdutt Padikkal tried to guide it toward third man, but he only managed a faint edge behind the stumps.

Jos Buttler took it safely behind the wicket and the umpire gave the batter out right away. Padikkal still chose to go for a review, hoping there wasnt any edge. But UltraEdge was pretty clear, it showed a spike as the ball passed the bat, so the call stayed out. That wicket gave Gujarat Titans a real boost in the middle overs, when RCB were trying to keep stacking runs.

Right after the dismissal Holder celebrated with full passion . He shouted out loud, pumped his fists, and the reaction showed just how vital that wicket was for GT at that point of the match. Padikkal played a useful knock of 30 runs off 19 balls , and he hit five boundaries. He attacked the bowlers with confidence, and for a while he helped RCB keep a strong run rate until Holder stopped him.

RCB still scoring at a strong rate

Even after losing three wickets, Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept moving along at around 10 runs per over. By the end of 14 overs, RCB reached 140/3, with Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya in the middle.

Virat Kohli had earlier made 43 runs from 25 balls , including five fours and one six. Holder then dismissed him as well. Venkatesh Iyer gave RCB a sharp beginning, scoring 19 off just seven balls, but Kagiso Rabada removed him with a brilliant running catch from Shubman Gill.

Patidar stayed unbeaten on 21 from 13 balls, while Krunal Pandya was batting on 25 off 20 deliveries. RCB still had the finishers like Jitesh Sharma and Tim David sitting in the dugout, ready if things opened up. Among the Gujarat Titans bowlers, Holder was the clear standout, taking two wickets in four overs. Rashid Khan also bowled tightly and conceded only eight runs in his two overs.

Rabada picked up one wicket but leaked runs and was bit expensive, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna also gave away some runs during the powerplay and the middle overs.
