Central Government restricts Telegram for NEET exam; message edit feature disabled until this date..
A major update has emerged from the Central Government regarding the NEET-UG re-examination. In light of the NEET-UG exam, the government has imposed a temporary ban on Telegram. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued a directive banning Telegram until June 22, 2026.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has fully welcomed this decision by the Central Government. This step has been taken to ensure the security and transparency of the NEET examination.
**Message editing feature disabled until this date**
The temporary ban on Telegram has been imposed under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and will remain in effect until June 22, 2026. Additionally, the message editing feature on Telegram will be disabled until June 30, 2026. The primary objective is to prevent misuse related to the examination.
**Why was the temporary ban on Telegram imposed?**
Following this move by the Central Government, the NTA stated that for the past few years, misinformation and exam-related material had been circulated to students via social media and other messaging platforms during competitive examinations. The NTA added that this measure would help curb the spread of rumors and information regarding question papers among students.
The NTA is set to conduct the NEET-UG examination on June 21. Admit cards have already been released for the more than 22 lakh students participating in the exam. Candidates appearing for the NEET-UG exam can download their admit cards from the official website.
