Granting significant relief to candidates appearing for the Constable recruitment examination, the UP Police Recruitment Board has decided not to impose any restrictions on religious symbols such as the Kalava (sacred thread) and Mangalsutra.

Regarding the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable recruitment examination, a decision has been taken this time that has brought a smile of relief to the faces of millions of candidates. Every year, various complaints surface concerning security checks during major examinations. In some instances, women are asked to remove their Mangalsutras, while in others, candidates are asked to remove the Kalava tied around their wrists. Under such circumstances, many candidates find themselves under mental stress even before the examination begins.

However, this time, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has clarified that religious sentiments will be respected at the examination centers. Candidates will not be compelled to cut the Kalava tied to their wrists or to remove their Mangalsutras. This decision by the Board has been met with particular joy among female candidates and those who adhere to religious symbols.

Many candidates heading to take the examination often remain anxious about the possibility of having to remove their religious symbols during security checks. Social media platforms have frequently featured images and videos showing students facing uncomfortable situations at examination centers.

In light of this, the Recruitment Board has preemptively clarified this time that there will be no restrictions whatsoever on Kalavas, Mangalsutras, or other common religious symbols. Candidates will not be asked to remove them even during the security screening process. The Board maintains that, alongside maintaining security protocols, it is equally essential to respect the sentiments of the candidates.

Strict Action Against Cheaters

While relief has been granted regarding religious symbols on one hand, those attempting to cheat face increased difficulties this time around. The Recruitment Board has sent a clear signal that there will be absolutely no compromise regarding the integrity and fairness of the examination.

In recent years, numerous instances of cheating involving the use of technology have come to light. For this reason, security agencies have been issued special directives this time to keep a strict watch on smart gadgets. In particular, smart glasses, electronic pens, micro-devices, and other digital equipment will undergo rigorous scrutiny.

The Board has stated that immediate action will be taken if any suspicious electronic items are found within the examination center. Therefore, candidates have been advised to carry only essential documents when arriving at the examination venue.

Rules Applicable to Staff as Well

This time, strict regulations have been imposed not only on the candidates but also on the staff and teachers assigned to examination duties. According to the Recruitment Board’s directives, personnel on duty inside the examination center will not be permitted to carry their mobile phones with them. The objective behind this decision is to prevent any potential information leaks or instances of malpractice during the examination. Officials believe that the examination can achieve complete transparency only when uniform rules are applied to everyone involved.

Examination to be Conducted Under CCTV Surveillance

To bolster security arrangements during the recruitment examination, all examination centers will be placed under CCTV surveillance. Activities will be monitored from a central control room to ensure that any irregularities are detected immediately. Furthermore, the local administration, the police department, and other agencies will also maintain constant vigilance. Additional police forces will be deployed in the vicinity of the examination centers to ensure the maintenance of law and order.
