UAE visa expiring soon? Here's how to check online

Newspoint
Residents and visitors in the UAE can quickly check the validity and expiry date of their visas through official online platforms, according to guidance issued by immigration authorities. The process comes into focus as the UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) recently announced a 30-day grace period for individuals affected by exceptional regional circumstances.

The grace period, which runs until July 9, 2026, applies to people who were previously exempted from overstay fines after being unable to leave the UAE because of regional disruptions. During this period, eligible individuals can regularise their status or depart the country without incurring penalties.

For those unsure whether their visa remains valid or has expired, UAE authorities provide online services that allow users to verify their visa status within minutes.

How to check Dubai-issued visas
Individuals whose residence visa or entry permit was issued in Dubai can use the online services offered by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Applicants can search using details such as an application number, file number, over-the-counter service application information, special request details or establishment information for companies registered with Dubai immigration authorities.

Those using a file number must provide their first name, nationality and date of birth. The file number can be found on a UAE residence visa document or entry permit.

After entering the required information and completing the verification process, users can view their visa details online.

Visa verification for other emirates
People holding visas issued in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah can verify their status through the ICP's online services platform.
