WBJEE JECA 2026 candidates must submit OBC certificate by June 19 for reservation benefits; check details
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board ( WBJEEB ) has asked eligible candidates of the Joint Entrance for Computer Applications (JECA) 2026 to submit their Other Backward Class (OBC) certificates to avail reservation benefits during admission to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses.
Candidates can upload their OBC certificates through the official JECA website till June 19, 2026. To submit the document, applicants will have to log in using their application credentials on the portal provided by the board.

Valid OBC certificate required
According to WBJEEB, candidates must submit an OBC certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format and in accordance with the existing government rules. The certificate will also be verified during the counselling and document verification process.
The board has clearly stated that no request for declaration, modification, or inclusion under the OBC category will be accepted after the portal closes. Candidates have been advised to complete the process before the deadline to avoid any issues during admission.
Only OBC-NCL candidates eligible for reservation
The board has also reiterated that reservation benefits will be available only to candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) category who submit a valid OBC-NCL certificate issued by the competent authority.
As per an earlier government notification available on the JECA website, candidates cannot claim reservation benefits on the basis of a paternal OBC certificate alone. Submission of a valid OBC-NCL certificate in the candidate's own name is mandatory.
