Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ May Arrive Earlier Than Expected; Makers Eye October 30 Release
As excitement around Ramayana continues to grow, the makers are now reportedly considering an earlier theatrical release for the much-awaited epic. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, was originally announced for a Diwali 2026 debut, but fresh reports suggest it could arrive in cinemas a week ahead of the festive rush.
According to reports, producer Namit Malhotra is exploring an October 30, 2026 release for the big-budget spectacle. The strategy is reportedly aimed at giving the film a stronger hold during the Diwali holidays, allowing collections to peak in the second week instead of the opening weekend.
A report quoted sources saying that the makers want to “redefine business” with a pre-Diwali launch that could gain momentum during the festive season. Discussions about advancing the release are said to be underway, with a final call expected soon.
The speculation gained further traction after Yash hinted at the timeline during an interaction with an international media portal. Speaking about the film, he reportedly said, “‘Ramayana’ we are planning this year, (on) Diwali, which is October last week.”
If the release date is indeed shifted to October 30, the film could secure a major advantage at the global box office. The move may also help it avoid direct competition with upcoming Hollywood releases like 'Godzilla Minus Zero' and 'The Cat in the Hat', both expected to release on November 6.
Another key factor behind the possible shift is IMAX screen availability. Since both ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ are reportedly eyeing premium large-format screens, an earlier release could give the Indian epic a stronger run in IMAX theatres worldwide.
Meanwhile, the report also claimed that the official announcement may depend on the finalisation of the film’s distribution deal. The makers are reportedly in talks over a massive Rs 450 crore distribution agreement, with negotiations still ongoing.
The ambitious mythological saga is planned as a two-part franchise. While ‘Ramayana: Part One’ is targeting a 2026 release, ‘Ramayana: Part Two’ is currently scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2027.
