Legal Troubles: Areum From T-ara Faces Child Abuse Allegations Alongside Mother
According to a report by Dispatch on June 3, Lee Areum , a former member of T-ara , has been charged with child abuse , while her mother faces charges of child abduction. The prosecution has issued a ban preventing them from approaching their children until July 21.
The saga began when Areum accused her ex-husband, Mr. A, of child abuse. She claimed he mistreated their five-year-old child, even alleging horrifying acts like throwing an infant from a bed and using the children as outlets for his anger, including distressing claims of urinating and defecating on their faces. However, investigations didn't find evidence supporting her accusations.
On May 8, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office dismissed the case against Mr. A, citing insufficient evidence and concerns about the credibility of the children’s testimonies, which experts suspected could have been influenced by Areum.
