Bengal: VHP attacks Christian prayer, claims religious conversion
West Bengal: A Christian Sunday prayer meet was disturbed and attacked by members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on June 21 in West Bengal.
The Hindutva members stormed into the prayer meet at Raniganj of Paschim Bardhaman district and alleged that Hindu women were being coerced into converting to Christianity.
Footage shows they grabbed the Bible, attacked the worshippers and chanted religious slogans. “With the help of this Bible, they are luring Hindu women and converting them,” said one attacker.
“The Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will ensure that such things don’t happen,” he added.

Around 25 people were handed over to the police. The Paschim Bardhaman Police was unavailable for comment.
It should be noted that West Bengal currently does not have an anti-conversion law. In May, the right-aligned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took over as the governing party in Bengal after defeating the powerful Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.
