The National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal allows citizens to report cybercrimes online and track their complaints.

How to File a Cyber Crime Complaint Online

You can report a cybercrime through the official portal at cybercrime.gov.in. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
  2. Choose the relevant option, such as 'Report Other Cyber Crime' or 'Report Financial Fraud'.
  3. Click on 'Click here to register' and log in using your mobile number.
  4. Enter the details of the incident carefully.
  5. Upload supporting evidence, including screenshots, chats, phone numbers, emails, transaction details or other relevant documents.
  6. Submit the complaint and save the acknowledgement number provided to you.

Special Reporting for Women and Children

The portal also provides dedicated options for reporting cybercrimes against women and children. Such complaints should be filed promptly, while all relevant evidence should be preserved safely.


For financial cyber fraud, call 1930 immediately. In an emergency, 112 can be contacted for assistance. The women’s helpline number is 181.

Once your complaint has been submitted, you can check its progress online.

Visit the cybercrime portal and select 'Track Your Complaint'. Enter your acknowledgement number and the other details requested. The latest available status of your complaint will then appear on the screen.

Keep These Details Safe

When reporting cybercrime, provide accurate information and avoid leaving out important details. Keep screenshots, bank or UPI transaction records, UPI IDs, mobile numbers, emails and chat conversations safely stored.

Most importantly, save your acknowledgement number after submitting the complaint, as it may be required to track the case later.
