Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Granted Bail in Excise Policy Money Laundering Case
In a significant development, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday in connection with the alleged money laundering case tied to the excise policy issue. Kejriwal was released on a bond of Rs 1 lakh. The court also rejected the Enforcement Directorate 's (ED) request to delay the bail order by 48 hours.
Kejriwal, who has been incarcerated since April 1, received temporary bail last month to participate in campaigning for his party during the Lok Sabha elections.
The decision came after Special Judge Niyay Bindu heard arguments from both the prosecution and the defense. Previously, Kejriwal's judicial custody had been extended until July 3.
Following the court's decision, AAP leader Atishi expressed, "Satyamev Jayate," emphasizing their belief in the judicial process. Punjab Chief Minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann shared his thoughts on X, stating, "We have faith in the court… Kejriwal gets bail… truth wins…."
Reflecting on the broader sentiment within the party, AAP reiterated, "Truth can be troubled, but not defeated."
