According to weather forecasts, there have been dry northwesterly winds and clear skies which are contributing to the rapid increase in temperatures. The scorching sun and low moisture levels are making outdoor conditions extremely uncomfortable especially for afternoon hours.

Warm Nights Adding to Public Discomfort

Apart from the intense daytime heat, the NCR residents are also in trouble as nights are expected to be very warm. Meteorologists also recorded that Delhi had one of its hottest May nights in years. Now, due to the weather being hot even after daytime, the Delhi-NCR residents are getting little relief from the heat and this has increased the chances of heatstroke amongst them.

Relief Likely Later Next Week

While the heatwave is expected to continue for the next few days, meteorologists have predicted that there will be some relief towards the end of next week. Isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall may come around May 28–30 in parts of Delhi-NCR.

However, there is some bad news too. The temperatures are still likely to remain high in spite of the brief rain activity. Experts have warned residents to stay cautious, drink plenty of water, and avoid direct sunlight especially during the afternoon hours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
